Showing your online poker card under the faade of honesty is a great way to dictate how your poker online opponents perceive your play style. If you’re playing tightly and you want your opponents to make you think that you’re loose, there are few better ways to encourage that perception than by bluffing an opponent off of a hand, and then showing your rags as you rake in your online poker chips. There are many reasons that this is so effective in making your perceived style concrete in your opponents’ minds-one, you are doing so under the pretense of friendliness: usually when an opponent shows his cards, your first thought is that he’s doing you a courtesy by letting you know whether or not you made the right choice. The warm feelings that your opponents may get from your friendliness are a great motivator for him to take your display seriously. If you’re trying to establish a loose image and you show him that you bluffed him off of a hand, he’ll be more likely to think that you’ll be bluffing in the future. Another way that showing your cards drives the point home is by giving your opponents visual evidence of how you play. If you’re showing a loose style by bluffing an opponent off of a hand, he’ll suspect it, but when you show your bluff after the fact, he’ll have his thoughts confirmed, and he’ll have you pegged as a bluffer for the rest of the game, or until you prove otherwise.
